[ Only half a lie. He was indeed asked, but he probably would have loitered around anyway to watch the kids safely have their fun. He's already committed himself to being their protector whether they know it or not. Some habits die hard -- he's still big brother Nicholas. ]

Okay! Then you have to wear a costume.

[ Big brother Nicholas needs to be part of a troupe to come alone, apparently. ]

[ Considers it. Deeply. He'd do it for the kids but for Vash? ]

Only if you're in a dumb one.

[ ISN'T IT MORE FOR THE KIDS? Vash doesn't care if Wolfwood comes dressed or not, but it's enrichment for the children to have people join in.

He points at himself, confused and wondering WHY does he DESERVE this treatment. ]

You're doin' it for the kids, aren't you?

[ DO IT FOR THEM!! And he absolutely just wants to bully Vash into a Halloween costume. Really, he's not sure if Vash has ever actually had the opportunity to participate.

So why not? ]

It's already a given that I'm going to wear a costume, but a dumb one?

[ Puffing out his cheeks... Is it not enough when he's some amalgamation of a vampire, angel, and whatever else the kids are trying to make him? The children realize that Wolfwood will be joining and they're ecstatic.

They start fighting over which group will get to have him in their Halloween faction. ]

It's an event for kids. What kinda not dumb-costume are you s'pposed to wear?

[ He pokes Vash's inflated cheeks on instinct. It's just a natural movement. He's like a hamster. ]

[ The cheek deflates and he bats Wolfwood's hand. Stop that. ]

I think the costumes are cute.

[ A child... Holds a headband with wolf ears out for Wolfwood because they think wordplay is funny. Be part of their pack. ]

Two things can be true.

[ It can be both cute and dumb as hell. That's how he sees Vash sometimes.

Anyway he just takes this headband and puts it on without much fanfare because he will do that for kids and he's in a good mood. How does he look. ]

[ It's a nice headband. ]

[ Aw, the kids are bashful, but obviously happy, when Wolfwood accepts the little headband and joins their pack. The wolf children gather around him and tell him that he needs to listen to the alpha in the pack!

Vash doesn't interject. Instead he reaches out to massage one ear on Wolfwood's headband. ]

Uh-huh.

[ Sure sure. He's got it, kiddos. ]

Who's the big boss? Is it Brent?

[ Just looking at Vash as his ears are pet. Doesn't comment. ]

[ Mouths that it looks good so he doesn't interrupt the kids trying to talk to him. He will give the fake ear one more squeeze before letting his hand come back to his side.

The wolf pack simultaneously say DOWN WITH BRENT because Brent last minute wanted to be a vampire. ]

Oh, right. What am I supposed to be again?

[ ... One girl just says "you're just Vash." ]

Wow. What a traitor.

[ Down with Brent. He looks over at Vash meanwhile. ]

Just Vash. [ But he guesses that's kind of like being Super-man for these kids. ] So better get your reddest jacket out the closet.

[piteous]

[ Brent gawks at Wolfwood calling him a traitor...? It's fine if the other kids say that, but Wolfwood is COOL. However, turning tail would look poorly, so with clenched teeth and fists he stays steadfast in his choice to be a vampire. ]

I only own one red coat...!

[ What happened to the red clothes he gathered in the UG. ]

[ Wait. ]

Seriously? Only one?

Yeah?! Have you seen me pull out another one?!

[ It has only been the one and he patches it up every time. ]

Iunno, you could have a lot of the same jacket!

[ God knows Wolfwood needs to keep getting new ones every so often. ]

I patch it up each time... But when it gets really bad, I do get a new one.

[ But it would need to be irreparable. ]

And how many times has that happened?

[ How many jackets can you stretch across over a century... he pulls at Vash's sleeve right now. ]

[ So it's several rather than a couple. Wolfwood will find that this coat is quite new, actually.
