[ It's fine... The three leftover, then becoming two, appreciated and admired it after Shenhe was gone.

Vash takes a cup of water and sips in between eating some tasty fruit.
]

Those two things are kind of related to each other, aren't they? The project is definitely more important to ask, though.

[Well, the real answer here is that Kaveh will always make time for Vash and would gladly pull an all-nighter on his work if he had to, but saying that would probably only get him scolded, so.]

I'm doing fine. I'm waiting on a client's feedback for my own work, so I've been making good progress. Why, did you have something in mind?

[ It would definitely get some chiding from Vash considering he was there when his team formed and named themselves "Go to Sleep." He leans against the counter as he continues pecking at the fruit until the plate is clean. ]

Not really. I just don't want to bother you if you're busy—and wouldn't mind lounging around reading books or chat as you work.

[ Despite being high energy and sometimes high maintenance in that regard, he can be low maintenance and easy to handle. ]

Well... [Hmmm.] How do you feel about painting?

Yes. Well--kind of. It would just be the base colors, most likely.

[Unless Vash is a secret artistic genius, but Kaveh knows his own level of perfectionism with his work and he doesn't particularly want to subject Vash to that.]

I think I can do that much. It's like coloring in the lines, right?

[ But with displays. It really is not that difficult and he's glad Kaveh isn't asking him to do detailed work, even though he likely can do it. He just assumes Kaveh is a perfectionist just based on observation.

His observation is right. Anyway. Hands on his hips now.

Okay! Tell me what I'll be working on, chief!

Even less effort than that, really, since you'll be working on wood--but if you want to take extra care to follow the grain patterns, I won't argue. Oh, and gentle with the brushes, if you don't mind. [Really he is giving Vash the babiest of art tasks, impossible to mess up unless Vash like. Breaks them or something. But yes, he's absolutely true--he probably saw glimpses of it back when Kaveh was working on their warehouse, since he's the one who painted their matching murals. Good times...

But!! He will wave at Vash to follow him, back out to the main room and all the models strewn about.]

Mehrak, get my painting supplies, please. [As Mehrak chirps in response and floats off to do just that, Kaveh moves to clear off the table, muttering under his breath about Alhaitham and books and such. Even so, he's careful as he moves them over to a shelf, treating them with a care that doesn't match his annoyed huffing. Honestly, even his huffing isn't that sincere, since he is happy... he and Alhaitham often work in the same space together, but they don't really work together on his projects like this, so it's the first time in a very long time that Kaveh's had a companion helping him out this way.]

Sit anywhere you'd like. [THEY HAVE LIKE THREE COUCHES this house is so stupid] I'll fetch a cloth to cover the table, and some water to rinse the brushes off, but you can start with any model you like, and I'll pass you the right colors.

[And Mehrak returns with the supplies, right on time!]

[ How fortunate that Vash is very nimble... So he should be pretty good at this, even if it's the basics. Before he follows Kaveh out, he drinks the whole cup of water comically fast instead of bringing the cup with him, then refills it. Now he will bring it with him.

Okay, he follows Kaveh back to the mess.
]

Oh, hey! [ To Mehrak before the little friend goes off to get supplies. He remembers the assistant from the memory he had to watch during Kaveh's drunk Wednesday night, though not at the full capacity as now. Still a weird ass memory, but he shouldn't judge. He fought a samurai on rollerblades.

Kaveh is really commanding the room though Vash is subjected to watching Kaveh's gay cute aggression (it has him smile though no comment is made, for the best), which puts Vash in a subservient and passive disposition. He stays quiet as he's given more instruction (they're options and further info, Vash), but when he gets the green light to start he picks up the nearest model and takes a seat on one of the couches!
]

I'll take this one!

[ The cup of water is placed on a coaster on the table. Both hands free, he holds the display piece like a delicate bird's nest. what the fuck is it ]

[HELP Mehrak was also in homos with him!! But it was nerfed so that's fair. And it's true, even though a piece of some guy's soul popped out of a diadem, it's not as weird as half the shit that happens in Trigun.

Vash gets a model that looks like this! Or, well. A small version of this but close enough.]

Ah, perfect, that one's already been primed for painting. [And he will set out some supplies!! A couple of brushes, and two tins of paint--a light tan and a dark brown.] You can just cover the whole thing in this lighter shade, here--I'll show you where to put the other shade once that's done.

[For his part, Kaveh grabs a disassembled model of this, which looks like it's already partially painted. He gets settled with his own supplies, though he looks back at Vash.]

Are you sure you don't mind? You can let me know if you change your mind, it's not particularly exciting work.

[ i never remember kaveh showing him the suitcase it's fine my memory is nonexistent. That diadem memory was weird and Vash never asked about it after in fear that Kaveh will remember his memory about blowing stuff up. All he learned was that Kaveh, again, is a good person.

... And now he knows that the dude in that memory is Alhaitham.

Cool! It's a ship, which Vash tilts his head at because—
]

I've only seen something like this in books.

[ There's... No water to sail in No Man's Land and spaceships are designed for their different purpose. After some examination, he picks up one of the wider brushes to start with the tan paint. Each dab and stroke is very careful and meticulous. ]

I don't mind, I don't mind! Painting is therapeutic! A lot more fun than whatever I'd be doing at home. [ Which, keeping it to himself, he thinks would be gunslinging against bounty hunters or cops... Dodging bullets... Just the usual Trigun tomfoolery, but with Wolfwood in tow. ] Are they models of real structures?

[Vash is valid for being nervous... even though Kaveh only vaguely remembers what he saw, he definitely remembers the emotions it evoked, and he isn't really one to doubt what his heart tells him. Especially not with Vash, given the other conversations they've had. Kaveh, for his part, is just lucky Vash didn't get the memory of him perfectly mimicking the way Alhaitham lectured him for fainting in the desert over some lost foxes, because then he really would never live it down.

At the moment, he just watches Vash for a minute to see how he does, and, once he's satisfied, gets to work himself.]

Alright, then. I'm glad to hear it. [Not for the first time, he wishes he could ask them to stay in Sumeru, but he still doesn't believe they'd say yes, so. Another day, maybe. For now, he just answers Vash's question.]

In a sense, but many of them are reconstructions of ancient ruins, so there's a degree of guesswork involved. Some scholars have gone on expeditions in the past, but it's dangerous out there, so many of them make do with preexisting research data. Yours, for instance, is fairly well-known--it's called a Soulferry, and it was used to transport the dead.

[GHOST SHIP... CORPSE SHIP??? look Kaveh's not a history major he just lives here]
